Tuesday Dec 14th- where did it go?

If it is even possible- today went 'bye-bye' faster than a speeding bullet!!! No one was injured :)
A happy birthday to Quin :) today- all these December birthdays!!

Homework
No new homework
Still a few students away so some assignments to complete before the break - namely Spelling redo Unit 11, Science Ch 1 review and crossword and  Math Transformations review- everything else can be done over the break if necessary
Remember to bring the items for the dress rehearsal tomorrow (santa hats and/or festive looking garb)
Remember to buy for your 'secret santa' gift exchange and be sure to let me know if you need some assistance finacially OR with purchase :)
Remember to bring something to share to our class year-end celebration on Thursday- enough for 5-10 students is enough . Thanks

General Day
Started with a joyeux noel French assignment and no one complained as a matter of fact we did a crossword review of the vocabulary often used at Christmas (winter) time and they were alll really 'into it' that I could hardly keep up with the pronunciation practice of the symbols which were used instead of clues. Then I gave them a pere noel to colour with les directions en francais and they did a fabulous job. Yeah, French is definitely more effective for this class first thing in the day (or at least in the morning).

Band class with Ms. Sorban (music)

Social Studies Ancient civilization research- the student doing the same civilizations worked today in their civilization groups so I could share among them the resources that I have amassed for the projects- each civilization has a file and some old National Geographic editions relevant to their civilization. There are texts, reference material, art folders, posters, maps and various older texts in class that despite their age have some great relevant information for research- I mean it is ancient civilization we're studying :)

Lunch - we danced and I managed to find a neat way to adapt the Barn Dance for the Christmas concert and get the students to move to the next partner without falling down !!! Don't ask :)

1-1:30 we practised our Christmas concert piece- it was a bit hairy but that's why we practise- I really just want them to have fun on the stage but I don't want them to be foolish- I am 100% sure that tomorrow will bring out the best when there is an audience. Don't sweat the small stuff they say... the dancers are fabulous and I think it is a piece that we can enjoy with the audience. I predict the audience will be part of the clapping and encouragement of the dancers!!

DEAR time was much needed :) Last day to record reading is tomorrow as we are going to do our draw for the MP3 player Thursday at our celebration.

ART- so many things on the go- advent calendars- soda pop labels- Christmas decor for the gym- colouring geometric patterns and making snowflakes- some are completed others lagging!! Some of the completed work ios already on display in the gym :)
A group of grade seven students helped set up the chairs in the gym, another helped the grade two skit for the concert and yet another couple helped with the sound system!!! Busy bees...Thanks to everyone that hjas put themselves out there for making things work (you can pretend you don't like it but you know we need you - and love you SHHHHHH.)
Befor ethe 3pm Dismissal we all tidied up desks and packs and ran through the lyrics for our Christmas song once more and we had FUN !! go figure :)
Have a great night. Dress rehearsal tomorrow starting at 9am. If you can't make the evening why not come and see the rough version :)
Mrs. J.
