I'm so glad the good weather held up today- but those clouds on the way home looked ominous!
Sorry so late again tonight with the Blog- it has been a heck of a week for me with meetings and family obligations!
Tonight's homework
The good news is that there is NO NEW homework for tonight BUT that means that any overdue or incomplete work from earlier this week (or last) has time now to be completed!
I know for a fact that many students have not completed their reading notes for chapter 10 of the novel and a couple who have been absent haven't even started. They know who they are and they need to use this long weekend to get caught up.
I collected all the math today- just a couple said it was at home!
So read, read, read and take a few notes for those Reader's responses :)

Thanks to those who have returned the forms giving me an idea of a preferred parent meeting date. They are due Oct 12th after the Thanksgiving weekend.

General Day
Spelling test Redo #2 and #3 test once we had an interesting dicussion about WHY we are doing them!! More later about the intention/reason we test spelling.
Music with Mrs McPhee
Math introduction to the rubric (performance standards for assessment of skills) for problem solving. I also distributed a 'code' chart for computation words of the kind that are hidden in problems solving wording of 'story problems'.
I managed to get some extra computer time and we began the process of word processing the notes for the students' reader responses. It was very productive 30 minutes.
DEAR time a bit less settled today (some students seems to come back from lunch time break hyped up and it takes quite a while for them to calm down- don't know what the answer is yet!!)
Science Ch1 Ecosystems- intro. to the reading for information strategy called THEIVES which helps students use the information in content area text (socials and science) to assist with their comprehension and finding of asked for information. We read the first section together and all students received the first science booklet for the section including pages 6-15.
Art - took some time to share some former students' poster work for Remembrance day and encouraged as I do every year students to start thinking about a front of school bulletin board display for November and to enter the local Legion poster and literary competitions. I am proud to share that over the past five years the intermediate students and particularly the grade seven students at Squamish Elementary have won cash and recognition for their poetry, art and essay writing. I would like to keep the tradition going this year.
Dismissal came too fast! 3pm
Have a good evening and a good Thanksgiving. Miss Borsoff will be in class for me tomorrow as I have a training workshop for the SSTA. See everyone Tuesday Oct 12th
new seating will be planned for next week!
