Thursday June 24th

I am so proud of myself... I have managed to SAVE and fancy up (with Isaac's assistance) the slideshow and even managed ON MY OWN to add the music (once Isaac 'ripped' it from my Flash Drive and put it onto the classroom computer). There is so much to learn.
Now I just have to burn it onto a CD rom so we can show it on Monday!

Emily e-mailed me a couple of pictures and our IT guy, Mr. Elliot, just happened to be there when I needed help today and he showed me how to move them from my e-mail account to the hard drive of my computer so I could add them to the slideshow. So cool.
Mr. Elliot said he thinks the Windows Movie Maker program which we are using is a bit on the more complicated programs!! Go figure- I have to do things the hard way.

So one of the reasons the blog is very late tonight is because it was more important for me to get the slideshow done fist. I intended to take it home and burn it onto a CD rom tonight but I hope I left the Flash Drive at school because, of course, I can't find it anywhere- I've been a little scattered of late!! Hope the darned thing is where I think I left it at school!!

General Day
Lots of 'housekeeping' today - end of year camp info., school newsletters, $$ for pictures and Flapjack Friday (tomorrow), clothing items, DRSS permission forms and school supply ordering for next year.
We spent another half hour on class and year end clean up- today we collected back all the student text books and spent more time on figuring out what the student would like to take home and what they would rather recycle and 'donate'. I am at heart Scottish so I have a donation box and if there is anything that students intend to buy new in the fall like calculators, felt pens, pencils, paper or protractors etc. I have a 'donation' bin. Any donations are welcomed and will help offset the students who have no supplies next year!

Music/games with Mrs. McPhee

After recess we finished the movie The Blind Side and I must say the students seemed to really have enjoyed it. They even watched the deleted scenes!

Mrs. Temple-Hurley (bus driver and program operator) came to talk to the grade sevens about the DRSS bus routes for next year and all students received route maps- tomorrow I will distribute the bus route information which btw is also made available on the District web site if ever you need it and don't know where to look (like the end of August)!

Not long after that the school bus showed up and we travelled to DRSS via the Highlands school where we picked up the GHE grade sevens. We spent the afternoon at DRSS . We met all the other grade seven students approx. 150 excited teenagers- the DRSS leadership class showed groups of 10 around the school and the students all had pizza and doorprizes before they received their timetables (schedules) and a freezie.
It was interesting- I guess a little different from what I had expected but the students seemed to adjust well and had a good visit. I sometimes forget the difference in organizational methods between high school and elementary.

We arrived back in time for the dismissal bell- another day bites the dust!

Remember the Flapjack brekky tomorrow- Western style! See you all in the morning.
Peace out
Mrs. J.
