Wednesday just Wenesday (okay, Wet Wednesday)

Busy day at school as usual...

homework
spelling test unit 13 tomorrow
socials especially special interest topic - progress is expected

Generally today...
spelling for Unit 13

SRA reading time - independent progress is going well

socials time- some extra computer time for word processing for the project

Math completed rotations and a unit end mini-review of the three types of translations we have been working on for the last couple of weeks. I challenged the students' visual-spatial skills with a reflection drawing/sketch called 'complete a cheetah' and the results were great. It needs a bit of concentration to mirror inage a line drawing. Impressive work :)

started a project for the Olympic decoration of Brennan Park- we are designing or re-creating the flags of some of the participating countries... I had no idea until we found out today (thanks to Google) that there are 81 countries that take part!! I have at least 30 flags covered but I'm not sure we will have time for 81

DEAR reading

Science- had an interesting discussion about the Haiti earthquake in the Caribbean yesterday. We are looking at faults and the plate movement that cauuses such natural disaster. Do not want to cause concern among the students but every year when we do this unit there are some students who become scared of the Big One happening here. We will probably cover an earthquake safety checklist so just be ready for a little bit of drama at home!!

Art- as I talked all through art yesterday , I made up their art time today, We are still working on rotations (card art) and now I have added the flags.

Cassandra visited at the end of the day causing lots of excitement.
Reminder that hot lunch $$$ is due Friday.
Have a great evening
Mrs. J.
