Seemed to be a lot of students away today- could it be in part that there is a project due tomorrow?
Boy's have a basketball game at Garibaldi Highlands tonight- good luck, team :)
Homework
Finally tomorrow the big day for the research project- I expect all students to bring in the main research sections of their projects in paragraph format (the intro, geography, society and culture, achievements and a start on the special interest topic)
I am looking forward to seeing the work completed this far. I am sure many of you just want to see it over and done with!!
General Day
Everything a little off kilter today for me personally- sometimes the events we plan for fun can take more energy and patience than the regular day to day schedule.
Started day with Family Groups where we discussed the SQUAMOC Olympic Version of the school Games- the students signed up for various events which will take place starting next Tuesday.
Then we were treated to a well structured and fast paced dance performance by a group called Project Soul who were 4 skilled professional 'street' dancers showing their moves in Break dancing, Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, B'Boy and B'Girling - the students had some great moves of their own when they had the chance to join in- very entertaining show. The older students loved it too :)
Some math after recess for continuation of test taking math problem solving- it was a hard sell after the morning fun!! But we managed .
Did you know if four friends want to ride the chairlift in different combinations every time that they would have to go up on it 24 times!!
Physical Education with Mr. Parker
DEAR reading time (a little unsettled today- what was your first clue?)
Guest speaker Deanna Lewis presented a Native cultural lesson on the edible, medicinal and craft plants that are native to our area. She ended our day with a dance game called "Pow Wow" which the students seemed to enjoy although they could hardly har the instructions over their screaming!!
The dismissal bell went soon after we returned to our classroom and so ended a rather busy day at school.
See everyone Wednesday!
Mrs. J.
