Happy Rabbie Burns Day, Ooch Aye :0
Robert Burns is the national Scottish Bard (poet) and his birthday is today- traditionally in Scotland we have a wee glass o' the amber and eat haggis (but not this year)
Actually I am still in class messing with the seating plan yet again as the social nature of groups is no longer working for us at all- I've tried the groups of 5 now we are trying rows of three!!! A female student (I have 10) is acting as a buffer between the male students ??? I'll keep you all posted!!
Homework
Socials project complete with title page, illustrations and bibliography is due Wednesday
Unit 15 spelling Thursday (bit of a slip in unit 14 results)
there was supposed to be a sample test problem for math but many didn't pick it up at the door as they left tonight (thought they might be able to remember to take it home if they had to be responsible for picking it up at the end of the day- apparently NOT!!)
Reminders
Dress red and White tomorrow for our Olympic extravaganza
$2 for Hats for Haiti Wednesday (no $$$ no hats- support the children of Haiti)
General Day
a number of items for general 'housekeeping' today including FSA, the week's events, Friday TOC notes and class seating- need a review of basics regarding eating/drinking, bathroom visits and appropriate response to class activities!!! (hormones and pushing the boundaries)
Spelling return unit 14 and prep unit 15
SRA reading lab
French opposites
early snack due to music after recess
Music with Mrs McPhee
Math perimeter and area review in problem solving style
Lunch
DEAR took a while to settle again
Personal Planning still having issues with transition times- lots of chatter and silly responses to directives!! Today Peer Pressure was the topic
2-3pm Deanna Lewis Native Cultural Program Art activity- using basic geometric design showed the students how to create an eagle's mask. They look great and the masks which were finished today (20) were displayed in class. There are approximately 8 to go from today and I will be encouraging their completion. Thanks, Deanna.
Having a tough time getting students ready for dismissal lately- you'd think they'd want to be out asap but not these students!! Kept them for a short time after the 3pm bell to go over the homework and remind them about our family groups and Olympic events tomorrow- should be interesting.
Boy's basketball practice was cancelled after school today but they will have a lunch time practice tomorrow before the home game after school tomorrow.
Bye fur the noo (Scottish slang)
Mrs. J.
