Staff meeting tonight so the Blog was a little delayed.
Anyway, I have lots of paperwork to do and need to keep this one brief which for me is a real effort :)
Homework is the same as yesterday
I have been very encouraged by the number of students who have been working very diligently to get caught up on work they were behind on due to absences.
Spelling Unit 7 test tomorrow - study words
Socials paragraph "Steps to Civilization" is due (many completed it in class today
Novel assignments for the independent project (again, impressive progress- some students are complete as of today :))
Science work booklets to be completed and turned in - open book test on Friday this week
French haunted Houses labelled en francais
General Day
I am enjoying reading the novel Word Nerd and I think the students are enjoying it too. The main character Ambrose is one the boys particularly can relate to. It is not often I find a novel that resonates with my boys at this age level. It is funny too.
Unit 5 spelling test redone today- results were much improved :)
I was able to find some computer time this morning for the students to word process their assignments for socials and novel study.
Time for general organization and catch up on missing or incomplete assignments was provided and Cassandra assisted taking a small group to the library and allowing them to forge ahead with the assignments they needed to complete (or find!!)
I introduced the rules for the Remembrance Day poster competition and some students made a start on their entries. Others are creating a Landscape scene which I hope can be inspired by the beautiful fall colours that surround us locally. I just love the colours at this time of year. One of my favourite scenes is actually in my back garden where the grey stone pedoga is offset by the over hanging deep maroon leaves from the Japanese Split Maple. Soon the leaves will be gone so I soak up as much of that little perfect scene as I can!! Wonder what my students love about this time of year- guess what I'll be asking them tomorrow :)
Time flies when you are having fun...
See everyone tomorrow.
Mrs. J.
