Hi all,
Today's entry is a bit later due to the fitness class after school :) I find I have more energy after it!!
In class this afternoon we did a rocks and minerals lab for science which took most of the afternoon but it seemed to go well and all students participated as expected for the most part and created amazing charts complete with sketches and descriptions of the different materials they were examining.
I have a collection of fossils and rock types some from the Macabee site in the interior. My brother who is a teacher in the Kamloops district works as a guide and fossil 'prospector' (he actually has an unknown species of ancient insect named after him as the 'discoverer') at Macabee in the summer and he gets some great fossil examples. The students seemed to enjoy trying to figure out what they were looking at today and were busy with the magnifying glasses and speculation!! I'll post the website tomorrow for those interested.
Homework is basically the same as it has been
Friday spelling test (Unit 4)
I forgot to do the re-test today for Unit 3 (so at lunch tomorrow redo)
Reader's Response #4
read next set of chapters for novel Chapters 22-26
Reminders
payments- t-shirts, Camp Summit, planners, photo package
Crazy hair day Friday
I am meeting tomorrow with the students who have outstanding assignments and then parents will be notified.
We are fortunate at Squamish Elementary to have a former student of Mrs. Paxton, Cassandra, who is joining the intermediate team and doing her training (practicum) to be a Child and Youth Care worker in our classes. She will spend three days a week with us until December and two days at Douglas College in Vancouver.
Have agood night everyone. See you all tomorrow.
Mrs. J.
