I am hoping that the grade six and seven students will appreciate the opportunity to attend a group cooperative skills and team-building camp tomorrow (September 2nd) at Camp Summit.
I made an error in booking it in July by thinking that I had booked the camp for next week and was shocked when the Director phoned on today and reminded me that Squamish Elementary was booked for Wednesday this week!!!
So Monday was spent organizing transportation, permission slips and approximate numbers so I could get the information out to the students and parents today and get the camp instructors ready for our arrival at 10 am on Wednesday!! Sorry for the late notice but we thought that it would be a really positive way to start the 6/7 students at Squamish Elementary by getting them to cooperate and work together in a venue outside of the classroom- the instructors at Camp Summit are awesome and have just completed their training programs- we are their first group of the season. We hope it will help offset some of the cliquey behaviour that became problematic last year.
I have the grade one students this week and next but I am getting the chance to go the Camp Summit with the grade 6/7 as I will eventually br their teacher. Mrs Parker is going to fill in for me on Wednesday.
I am looking forward to getting my senior class and I know I'll be ready for it by next Friday!!
Hope to see the students ready with forms and water bottles ready for an active day at Camp Summit tomorrow.
