Wednesday

I don't know if it's the heat or just the computer but I am experiencing technical difficulties just trying to do the blog...I'll type fast just incase it kicks me off mid-sentence like it did last night- it froze up and I didn't finish...sorry!!

Tuesday was even hotter in class than Monday afternoon. I brought in a fan from home today but I think it is just blowing the air around the room but... (there's enogh hot air already!! :))

Tuesday was a blur but we finished the day with Deanna Lewis from the Native Cultural centre teaching us about the meaning of hieroglyphs which we then painted on river rocks. The only thing missing was the river!!

Today we completed chapter 9 of the novel, a worksheet on telling time en francais, we are powering through the vocabulary excercises, a time telling (math) worksheet was started - we can finish it tomorrow- it is amazing how easy it is to mess up time problems. Our kids are mostly digital so analog clocks and 24 hour clock counts can get a bit confusing for them (and me). They played a game of Capture the Flag in Phys. Ed. and we finished the day by discussing the team groupings for the last BIG socials/language Arts project. We are going to create a Greco-Roman Newspaper and every member of the team has both individual and group roles to play. I opted to have 5 groups of 6 students. I tried for 6 groups of 5 but no matter what way we divided the bodies there always seemed to be a group in which there were more folks that would have a difficult time working together than not SO...
I stayed after the staff meeting tonight and have changed the desks and the class seating plan for what I hope is the last time this year. I hope everyone is happy with the effort and can pull together for a few more weeks!!

Every student has an individual copy of the expectations. Group marks will be tallied by June 11th (they'll be working on the project for language arts and socials time) as report cards are due to the office by June 15th (Monday). The students are familiar with the report template for Term 3 but time is running out for the slow pokes- even if an assignment is not 100% complete- if it is older than two weeks JUST GET IT IN if you want any of it to count towards your term 3 assessment!!!

I am not setting any NEW homework but there are approx. a third of the class have outstanding work to come in. They know who they are :)
I th9nk that's it - it seems like I am missing something but I am so hot in the class I can hardly think straight- if I remember something impotant I will add it later.
See you tomorrow (hope it is just a little cooler... i am melting...my Scottish blood is in shock!!
