Thursday November 14th

Interesting day for weather warm and sunny - so not November- I do not know how to dress for the season anymore!!

Great day today...busy, productive, fun and energetic all rolled into one classroom

Reminders

hot lunch money (due by Monday 18th)
spelling unit 7 and challenge 3 for testing tomorrow
Math 7 review the percentages on the tangram activity for tomorrow's percentage review
any science activites I have a few MIA??

head's up that there is a new intermediate report card format being used in our district (I shared the template with my students today and they agreed it was 'different')
report cards go home with students next Friday (Nov 22nd)

Parent teacher interviews are the week after and I will be making myself available on Tuesday 26th from 3:30-5:30, on Wednesday 27th from 2pm (early dismissal)2pm-4:15pm (need to finish on Wednesday by 4:30pm) and on Thursday 28th from 3:30-5:45pm
I will try to give Mrs. Morfini my weird schedule so she can book you in but if none of these times suits you just let me know by note or e-mail and we can arrange something that works for your schedule (I will even be doing a parent-teacher by Skype this year!!) Starbucks is great too doesn't have to be in a cold, smelly classroom!! Just saying...

so many changes... and if you haven't heard yet the following changes are taking place next fall
early immersion at the K/1 level until the program blends at the grade four level and becomes one immersion program (no late immersion once that 'blend' happens)
and
the grade sixes this year will be the first grade seven student intake into Don Ross Middle school program for Fall 2014

It all seems to be happening at 100 miles an hour doesn't it?

Our Day

language Arts
completed the part 1 of the novel reached the climax of Touching Sprit Bear and introduced students to the part 2 novel choices and decisions on what projects they might like to plan once the reading is completed by showing a few examples from former students. I would like to encourage them to read without the need to stop and answer a ton of questions as it tends to break up the enjoyment of the story. Read first- projects and responses to the reading after.

Band class

Math 7 groups today- reminder them about reviewing the tangram percentages for tomorrow's class quiz

read to self

French
Quelle heure-est-il?
learning to tell time in French

Art
collaborate and design a new soda can label
being pre-teens you can imagine what kind of ingredients went into the new soda drinks created this afternoon:

Caustic Soda
Berry Merry Berry Soda
Magic Apple (no apple in the contents but lots of sugar!)
Soda 'POP goes your life' pop
Death Soda
Mountain Ale (no beer in ingredients!)
They were so 'into' it I could hardly keep up with the crazy concoctions of soda flavours and ideas.

Yes, I think you get the picture. The students are now busy creating labels for their new soda pop cans/bottles. Now, marketing will be a whole other ball of wax!

Time for a continuation of Word Nerd
before reminders and dismissal time

I am late for yet another meeting...like I said things are going by my head at 100 miles an hour.
Have a nice evening
Mrs. J.
