May 7th Tuesday

Another beautiful day...

Quick one tonight as I need to run a few errands...

Homework
same novel request

No new reminders that I can think of right this minute!

Our day...

Physical Education: studenTs chose to play an outdoor basketball game (after trying to play a team tag which kind of fizzled in the heat - take off those hoodies!)
Another group played soccer

Language: poetry unit- time to complete their idea for the visual poems and decide how to present the 'wordles' we created on Friday last week and/or the poem frame for Dumb & Dumber

novel time for those who preferered to advance their novel reading and work

Math7 challenging class today for a few different reasons still tackling circumference finding. We completed the questions of the PNE ferris wheel and some word problems involving finding the circumference which were more challenging for the students than I thought. Having a tough time getting the students to comply with the 'show your work' request for some reason!

Shot put practice at lunch

Silent reading

French tried a vocabulary game that I had to abandon this afternoon as the knowledge of some of the French phrases needed for the game were not as familiar to the students as I thought they should be!!

Art:
for some reason it was another challenge today to get all the ducks in a row and set everyone up with the resources that they needed to actually unbdertake the art projects (mosaic, visual poem, deconstruction project). It seems with the heat the students have all but forgotten where things are kept and have become very needy. It was a bit chaotic and I was happy for the end of the day.

I realize that I really need a break at lunch time- I find it difficult to finsh teaching at 12 noon, go right out for track and field until 12:45 and then try to eat lunch with the students back in class when they still need a bit of managing. Will be gald when the Tues/Thurs practices are over. Maybe I will have a bit more patience in the afternoons!

Enjoy your evening.
Mrs. J.
