Language Arts
Term 3 novel study
Novel reading and completion of the reader's response (activity #1) and into activity two answering three general questions taking readers to the end of Ch 5.
Some are already onto the next activity which chunks Ch 6-10. After the reading students have a choice of activty that they can chose to show what they understood from the rising action of the plot.
Social Studies
Text-related reading and discussion of Chapter 4 in Global Citizens (grade 6 text)
Chapter 10 in Ancient Worlds (grade 7 text)
We are undertaking a unit on creating a culture.
Math7 complete working on the review of Chapter 1 concepts. Most students seem to have a good grasp of the skills of transformations and are using the coordinate graphs and plotting points with confidence.
Silent Reading
French Etre conjugation and use of the parts of the verb in sentences and phrases using adjectives
Art
butterfly patterns in the full size templates- played some music and had a very pleasant 40 minutes watching and supporting the many variations on design and pattern on the butterflies. Found out today that another name for the Monarch butterfly is Milkweed (go figure- that is the title of one of our novels and I can understand the metaphor clearly just need to share it with the students reading the novel)
Clean up, letters out to grade 7 (see above)
