Big thanks to Mrs. Paxton for getting all my reports read and signed and back to me today. Much appreciated.
Homework
none although some students have taken home their art projects to work on some more- for some, I never seem to be able to offer enough art time.
Reminders
camp forms to get 5 grade sevens
DRS registration forms before spring break
our day...
daily French
Science completed the lab report or write up from yesterday's hands-on lab
Polymers - their uses in every day products, what they are and how they work
I can confidently say that I believe every student should be able to answer these questions after our work this morning. Maybe try that at home and ask them about polymers.
Physical Education- warm up and change of unit to Badminton today- I always enjoy hearing students telling each other that a class was fun :)
Thanks to Mr. Parker for putting up the nets for our class- again, much appreciated
Math 7 moving into the skills of translating points on a Cartesian plane to create 3-d designs by sliding the points into a different quadrant. Once the lines are joined together, a shape comes into effect that once shaded is easily discernible. Some students have difficulty with the old hand-eye coordination skills- see things upside down or backwards but it just takes a bit more practice to get all the 'lines in a row'- of course they have to be willing to keep trying!! Some get a little grumpy but I try not to notice and just provide another graph for them to try again!
Silent Reading
Would you be at all surprised if I told you the new horseshoe plan isn't the best one we have tried? No, thought so!
Completion time for yesterday and today's assignemnts and I am happy to report that (with the help of Mr. Day) we managed to get all lab reports in from yesterday's lab assignments (decided not to do French today!) I am relaizing that until I get one assignemt signed, sealed and delivered, there is no point in trying to introduce another. Perhaps more time for completion work might help with getting things handed in in a timely manner. and with decent quality too!
Art
Greek mythology art projects following image lines to re-create depictions of some of the gods and monsters of ancient Greek mythology. This aketching project is partly about lines and effective colouring techniques as I find some students destroy their art with over zealous colouring! I am attempting to teach shading techniques that emphasizes the piece.
Dismissal
Gotta go get my son from Math tutoring and then get to the curling club!
Have a good evening
Mrs. J.
