July 5th

Hard to believe it has been a week already! Two days of sunny weather now - very timely.
I'll say it quietly so I don't upset anyone but I was thanking my lucky stars that the last week of the school year was not summer sun and hot temperatures like they have been experiencing in the East.

I'm in clean up mode...
classroom
kitchen
garden
garage
and anything else clutter-bug that gets in my way (be afraid)

I've been busy but on my own schedule finally and I am enjoying having the time and the ability to look at the 'stuff' I've amassed, think about their necessity in my life and decide calmly what to do with it.
By nature I have always been a bit of a pack rat especially as a teacher (add in my Scottish heritage! I swear I grew up with the phrase, "You'll never know when it's going to come in handy")

Teachers are always saving, collecting or planning something different and can be reluctant to get rid of things. However, I feel confident that I am at a point in my career that I can finally 'let go' of certain items and  files. Things are not the same as they used to be in the planning department. Understatement.

Many things are at my fingertips now with technology. Saying this I think it is timely to rethink the student paper-pencil activities and papers that I find increasingly make it as far as the recycling bin! Using more technology precludes that there is space and time and appropriate  hardware/software all of which are being squeezed as our school grows and grows and grows...a new server, a different platform, digital overheads, Smart-boards...it all adds up.

Time for me to try a new recipe...
sweet and sour shrimp in coconut rice (I hope it tastes as good as it sounds)
