TGIF June 22nd

There was sunshine and then the wind blew in some dark clouds and now it is back to the rain. It was a muggy kind of day but we managed to get enough fresh air to get through the day. TGIF
Some students are so tired their emotions are close to the surface. I understand how they feel!

Another 'fluid' kind of schedule.
Today was the annual pancake breakfast. With more students in the school now it is time to streamline things a bit more and cut off the 'pancake eating contests' that seem to be the trend of the older students! There is no need to eat 14 pancakes! Those Elks pancakes aren't small either no wonder some students were unable to eat lunch! A few years ago we had the older students into the adult coffee which was curbed the following year so it's just growing pains but we'll get it figured out. Thank-you also for the donations to offset the cost of the Pancake Breakfast- every little counts.

Thank-you to my students who really helped out with the morning and the clean up. Ethan, Brody, Tesla, Simi, Roshni, Gurptreet, TJ, Manpreet and Harjot. Hope I haven't missed anyone. Your help was much appreciated.

Mrs. Cardiff worked with the groups who requested BFF photos. Some are paid up and the rest need to rememeber $$$ on Monday. The photographs will be ready Monday.

I collected all the student textbooks today and I have to say they are all accounted for and all in good shape. I thanked the students for their care of their books. I issue them all their text books with the same number as their class number at the beginning of the year. It makes it easy to know whose is missing and which number we are looking for if it happens to end up on the shelf or in someone else's desk.

We managed a final computer session for the brochure. Most students had some free time but I encouraged a handful of students to make a last ditch effort to complete the socials work. It is so difficult to concentrate at the end of the year with so much going on around the school.
Thanks to Cris and Hannah who managed to get their projects completed. Approximately 5 students did not hand in a socials brochure and only one student did not hand in a Spend a million project.

Time for assessment is pretty much over as the report card marks were due into the office this week for Mrs. Paxton to peruse and approve.

We tried to watch a section of Eragon as we have the last couple of days but the students were unable to focus on the story and the dialogue so that lasted perhaps 10 minutes. No point.

Our usual quiet time was not as quiet as usual although some students could read if there were an earthquake shaking their desks!!

From 2-2:45 in the afternoon Mrs. Fanzega and I teamed up our classes for a game (before the rain) of Capture the Flag which I think everyone seemed to enjoy. It was a close finish and with the weather changing and the permission forms to go home I needed to get back to class before dismissal time.

All the fieldtrip forms were handed out and unfortunately a few were left behind- what can I do? The fieldtrip is totally dependent on the students at such short notice. I'm not sure if the weather will be on our side and I'm not sure what to do with students who do not bring their permission forms. I can't worry about it though. If it doesn't work we just need to have a class day and I'll provide lunch! Go with the flow.

Have a good weekend.
Mrs. J.
