Please come to school Wednesday and Thursday prepared for track and field events for Phys. Ed. (clothing and footwear needs to be appropriate for running and jumping events for safety and performance

No school Friday and Monday (Victoria Day weekend)

General Day
Used the traditional reader called Sense and Feeling to complete a reading/comprehension activity on the Rick Hansen story that we were talking about last week.
I found it quite emotional to read through his story with the students. No one thinks the decisions they make will  change their life forever and Rick Hansen was only 16 when the rollover accident severed his spinal cord. It is an amazing story of dealing with adversity.

Then the groups read the last Greek mythology story of the activity started last week.

Spelling practice

There was no math switch today instead we did a couple of math and language puzzles and watched the History channel's Clash of the Gods: Hades
It once again is quite fascinating and outlines the clash of the gods Cronos (Titans) and his son Zeus (Olympian) . I did not realize that Hades was the eldest son of Cronos and that he got stuck so to speak with the underworld whereas his brothers Poseidon got the seas and Zeus the skies! There are so many facets of just one story that it is no wonder we get them all confused. Our classes have sparked a renewed interest in Rick Rordian's series of five novels which begins with The Lightning Thief .


Silent Reading

French conjugating the verb Etre: to be and placing it into sentences correctly based on the personal pronoun

Phys. Ed. 2-2:15pm set up
2:15-3pm Track and Field preliminary 'heats'
Three stations: Long Jump, Shot put and sprinting (approx. 15 minutes each)
Thanks for the help timing, measuring and participating.
We had some great jumps, throws and speed. Just come more prepared for physical exertion!

Back to class in time to pack up and prepare for dismissal
