March 28th already!!

I didn't really want to go to my fitness class after school but I am very happy that I did because I needed to stretch and move and release the tension in my neck!!
I think I slept in a weird position last night- I didn't want to get up!!

Anyway to the Blog...

Hi Hannah and family- it is really raining here in Squamish. Hope you are having a fun time where you are!

Homework
Spelling Test for Unit 12 tomorrow morning
Students have now decided the topics for their Lit. circle novels and I will let you know what they chose- for tonight I would like then to be planning and thinking about (creating a brainstormed plan) how they will proceed with it tomorrow. These activities are due by April 11th
no new math homework

Reminders
the hoodie letter needs to be completed and photocopied - I plan to send it tomorrow- I had no computer when I arrived home last night! Crashed!

General Day
Apparently we were visited by leprachauns last night (no, it seems they didn't go home after March 17th!!).
Thank you to all my students for playing along with Mrs. Lapointe and having a bit of fun for the Kindies.

Math 7
spent some time today (longer than I wanted!!) trying on the sample hoodie sizes and getting students to complete their name into the template for the silk screen. Sheesh!

Next we reviewed the Circle Geometry booklet answers- approx. 8 students didn't complete the expected work. Frustrating!
11:30 - noon we had a computer session logging into the Mathlinks 7 website to practice the chapter quiz (which they were not exactly ready for) to give them a look-see at the kinds of skills and activities they will be doing in this chapter (8).

Silent reading
encouraging students behind in assignments to use some of thisa time to get themselves up to speed and organize themselves (it is time for a desk and binder clean out but I'd reather do it after Easter when everyone is back)

French continued (tried to...) Quelle heure est-il? work telling time in French and looking at the different ways/methods for telling time. In Europe the 24 hour clock is used more than it is here.

FYI
I have put everyone on notice that I need to address just some silliness (giggling, interruptions and minor annoyances)  from a couple of students that gets started at silent reading time and seems to spread over the afternoon. I will be following that up to be fair to all of my students. We need to maintain a working atmosphere in the afternoons.

Phys Ed: good ball hockey session today. Split the class into teams and played 'number' hockey with various combinations of 2 on 2, 3 on 3, 4 on 4, girls only, boys only and mixed combinations- still with an emphasis on stick handling. Good participation. It was a fast and fun Phys Ed. time.

Back in class we completed the French activity but I couldn't find my little clocks for the game I had planned. I think I am so organized but I keep moving things and then get so mad that I can't find them. Thanks for being so understanding Simi :) [And P.S. you were right as soon as everyone had gone I checked my desk again and the clocks were right there next to the box of Kleenex. I knew I had put them somewhere safe and easy to find!]
Anyway, we finally got through the French but it really shouldn't have taken so long!!

Have a good night. Stay dry.
Mrs. J.

For those that are interested, my response to the article is a long one so I intend to chop it into three parts. After I get home tonight, I will repost the link and share my first response which will be a personal reflection as I remember what it was like for me to learn math when I was a student. I am still learning math but that is a whole other story...
