Silent reading
Redo spelling list #7- I was disappointed that of the 9 students who had to re-write only 2 of them improved their achievement. Two students did worse on the redo which tells me they are not studying or taking the opportunity to redo it as seriously as I would have hoped. It's too bad. I can only provide opportunity and guidance- I can't MAKE them study. It is frustrating as a parent and a teacher but our children have to learn to do it for themsleves at a certain point.
I'm not sure that I will continue with redo tests unless requested!?
What do you think?
Science Chapter 4 reading from p111 regarding the quantitative methods of describing matter. Mass, volume and density. Before we do the next science investigation, I wanted to ensure that students were aware that at this level we are now introducing math skills and measurement into science. The metric system and knowledge of it is very important as that is the International language of scientists. SI units
Phys Ed.
Well, I tried the games and various versions of tag and Duck, Duck Goose as well as some ball games- we have a long way to go- I'm not sure what has happened to our well-oiled Phys. Ed. machine! I need to 'take it back'. I had to sit some students out who couldn't be quiet for 10 minutes of 'silent ball'.
I have some work to do on this myself. It was okay but still lots of time wasting and social interaction rather than game play however- a step in the right direction was that no one was hurt, needed ice or was in tears by the end of the session so I think it is looking up!!
Back in class we completed the day with a brief session of Personal Planning about the writing topic for the day to do with Internet stalking and how many different social networks our students are on. We revisited how to be safe on the internet and ecouraged everyone to be aware of their own internet/socail media habits.
Dismissal.
Have a good evening.
Mrs. J.
