Glad today is over! I am tired and stressed! I am glad the last hockey game is in Vancouver and that it is not until tomorrow! Go Canucks!

Homework

Reminder(s)
Show up at 6:30 pm tonight for the evening Band concert for friends and family which will begin at 7pm. Dress as you did today (looking very 'professional') :)
Splashdown Park permission and payment due by Monday June 20th
Lexie, Tracy and Chloe remember the photo payment for Mrs. Cardiff please
Jas, Savannah and Tracy: library books to return asap

General Day
Decided to begin the day by completing the vocabulary units remaining Units 7 and 8.
Unit 7 used a phrase that was unfamiliar to me scito te ipsum "know yourself' and
Unit 8 the ubiquitous 'carpe diem' :)
We completed the activities and one of the crosswork puzzles- the other we can follow up on tomorrow- only a handful of students finished both in class.

BAND- concert practice in the gym- sounding good :) I was listening from the photocopier room where I was running off the math review test for fractions

Family Groups - sports day prep- chants and expectations. Go Panthers!

Math - fraction Magic squares - requiring the use of both addition and subtraction skills

Band concert 1pm to 1:45pm
The students sounded very good considering they have only been taking classes since January this year. The grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 7 and the honour Band students (those willing to work harder by giving up a Thursday lunchtime each week) all performed and it was obvious they had worked hard and just as obvious who hadn't!!  Generally the band sounded great and Ms. Sorben should take a big bow - we are proud of the band work our students have undertaken this year. I know you will be impressed at the concert tonight.

DEAR time- the students were really in need of a quiet half hour- read, write, complete math, draw, put your head down just have a quiet time!! Some students are having real problems settling themselves.

Sports Day- sign up for the stations was a slog of silliness, no one stepping up and in-fighting when they did - "AWWW ,we wanted that station!" - Lord, give me patience- I though it would take ten minutes- not so lucky- a full half hour later we agreed (some of us to disagree) and 23 of 30 students stepped up. The 7 others will either join their family group and actually do the sations or...choose assist with a station of their choice?

3pm dismissal and a small delegation came to ask for re-consideration of one of the stations they assigned themselves to (Is this not over yet?).  I have decided to settle it with rock-paper-scissors tomorrow and let everyone sleep on it. Amen.

Like I said I'm glad the day is done!
Now I am going home to continue year end report cards- I find if I try to do a few each evening that I am not so stressed on the weekend. This weekend is busy with my son's birthday, father's day and report cards!
Dance class tonight should help me overcome some of the stress too.
Tomorrow's another day :)
Enjoy tonight's concert :)
Mrs. J.
