Wednesday May 4th

The monthly staff meeting was tonight in case you are wondering why the Blog is 'delayed'.

I woke up tired this morning! What's that about? All day I have tried to make it Thursday but the students kept me on track- "Mrs. J , we don't have Band class today", "Hey, aren't we supposed to be at the computer lab now?" Thanks everyone- I swear I won't have any more chocolate AFTER dinner!!

General Day
I have the camp commitment letters ready and I discussed that first thing this morning and then FORGOT to hand them out at the end of the day!! Tomorrow is another day...
FYI the commitment form is to establish numbers first. Once the commitment forms are returned, the students will receive permission forms and waivers for the camp (Evans Lake). Our dates this year are the firsat week in June -Monday June 6th - Tuesday June 7th - one night two days at a cost of $50. Please see the letter that will be sent home tomorrow (Thursday that is!!!)

French- wow- fabulous lesson today the students did an awesome job with the conjugation of regular -er verbs and we worked our way through a substantial booklet of activites. It is really gratifying when some students recognize their enjoyment of lessons (especially French in this class). One of the students said "Hey, we did a great job didn't we?" and I had to agree that they did :)

Novel : time- read, plan, rough drafts for this morning's computer session after break)

Math: Pythagorus Theorum
Good session again... today I challenged the students with some more 'real life' problem solving which uses the theorum... ladders up on buildings, sailing patterns and length of support ropes on the ship's masts. We worked through the samples together and the students did well. So impressed with their reaction to the challenge - I only told them after that I had stolen some of the samples from the Gr 8 math text.

DEAR- not bad- I did remember the Math rewrite this afternoon :) Finally!
Seems that it takes a longer time for them to settle to read but once they get there it is worth the wait.

Personal Planning- I tried again with the lesson I decided to abandon last week and it went over well once I gave the students a choice between socials or anatomy. They chose anatomy :)
Today we covered the male reproductive anatomy and tomorrow I'll follow with the female reproductive anatomy tomorrow- they handled it well surprisingly. So, it was another good session.

Phys. Ed.
Played the sprinting gamre out on the back field again. We only had 20 minutes left so it didn't seem worthwhile to set up the shot put equipment. It was fun watching them screaming back to the safety zone- some nice sprints today too!! Loving the spring sunshine. Seem to be a few sore ankles and knees- legitimate for the most part mind you!

3pm Dismissal
Staff Meeting
Enjoy your evening Parent (PAC) meeting at 7pm tonight. Are you attending?
Mrs. J.
