Thursday (already) April 14th

Que tempus fugit (my Latin classes in high school are still paying dividends!!)

Quick one tonight folks as I need to leave a dayplan for a TOC tomorrow. I will  be away from school Friday.

Homework
Novel Ch 6-10 work is now in progress I have asked students to plan to take the assignment choices home (especially this weekend) to get the novel work done
Math tomorrow in class the students will be doing a pre-test for a Monday review test- the questions will either be the same or VERY similar so taking home the sheet will be a study/review sheet

General Day
Back to our schedule

Novel time to 9:45am

Band class to 10:30

Math- I gave them a geometric 'puzzle' today - one that asked for a number of triangles and squares to count- I thought it would take 15minutes. They were engaged in this activity for the best part of 50 minutes!!!
All told there were 140 triangles and squares. It was a bigger hit than I thought it would be- the students got all competitive finding the shapes, using highlighters and calling out numbers for one another to compare progress. I wasn't in control of it at all the students took over and even argued with me about the times I had counted one square twice- how dare I - sorry! BUSTED points now at 32

DEAR time for reading (honestly, you should see the ways some students avoid reading it is so interesting to watch them- I just wish I knew how to get them reading and keep them reading)

Science beginning to look at quantitative qualities of matter before we have the HSSS Biology 11 students in tomorrow for the data analysis of the bacteria experiment. Gave students the chance to complete their science booklets on describing matter.

Art finally some art time- we keep seeming to use up the time in other pursuits- you should see their musical instruments posters- they're so different and so interesting. Nice way to finish up the day.
Thanks to Quin and Callista for finishing our team jersey with pink paint! Looks - well, pink!

3pm Dismissal
See everyone on Monday. Have a great weekend AND be good to my TOC tomorrow. Thanks.
Mrs. J.
