We had a bit of a chaotic but fun day and have wished one another a Happy Christmas. I hope everyone has a happy, safe and relaxing Christmas break. Rest up because it will be twice as busy for the grade sevens after Christmas!! We managed to sort out the reamaining students for a gift exchange :)
Thank-you for the Christmas gifts which were all very well thought out- I especially liked the coasters that claim that "I am not a NAG I am a motivational speaker!!" Love it. lol
No official Homework
If that upsets anyone you could always do a bit of research for your ancient civilizations project!!
Actually quite a few students asked me if they could take home their texts and some class books so I am impressed.
FYI No novel over the break. I decided to wait until the new year as I am sure the students who love to read will have it finished and the others not so much!! So it can wait- if you want to get a jump start it will be Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit (ask Santa- and while you are at it will you please ask Santa for new rulers, pencils and decent erasers- maybe a sharpener that catches the shavings!! Thank-you)
School resumes on TUESDAY January 4th ( Take Monday off :))
General Day
I know it is not very Christmassy BUT so many students were away earlier in the week and missed the math test etc that for the first hour today we WORKED. The students had a choice of SRA reading, Socials or Science and pretty much everyone had a productive hour while the students who needed to caught up with the missing tests. Great work everyone :)
after snack we did the Christmas puzzles that I have had for years- the spellable snowman the star shaped crossword, the maze, the christmas wordsearch which went over well. The students worked in teams for bragging rights and candy canes!!! We finished with some colouring- I think I pushed their brains to the limit :) They were visibly tired. YEAH.
After Lunch we all gathered in the gym to watch Elf one of our Christmas traditions is to have the whole student body share a Christmas movie preferably one we can sing along with and Elf has a couple of great songs and a neat message about Christmas spirit. It was fun and the students seemed to enjoy it.
After clean-up we packed up and said our Merry Christmases and the dismissal bell was 3pm.
Peace and Love to all and to all a good night. I'll maybe Blog once or twice over the holiday but not daily- see you all in January 2011
