TGIF Friday Dec 10th

Well, the week definitely went by rather quickly but I am not complaining- quick one tonight

Homework
I returned the Unit 11 spelling tests today and 12 students (the biggest number ever this year!! need to redo it)- one student missed it so for a total of 13 students I will be offering a Redo test for the Unit 11 words Monday morning Dec 13th
(aside: and here I was wondering if redoing spelling tests was a waste of time- we'll see)
Monday there will be a MATH unit review for Transformations- I have sent those that needed it a booklet of the teacher's 'key' for the students to study from this weekend STUDY for the math review
Science- the Unit 1 review and crossword is overdue- finish it up so you can get the the more recent Ch7 work started today!!
All other overdue work...
grammar in-class activities, virtual adventure paragraphs, story ending to the novel is still not submitted by a few students- I wait patiently but not for much longer :)

General Day
Started with DPA tried the Canadian Barn Dance and practiced the Christmas song- some independent basketball skills while I tried to work with the performance dancers. Thanks to the students who agreed to learn the dance properly. I appreciate it.

Math check and correct Rotation 10.3 work- too bad that some are not even taking the work home- practice only works if the skills are actually attempted!! Provided the students with a 'key' booklet for their test study this weekend. The main part of the test will be made up with examples from our class work and practice- there will be a multiple choice section but there will be nothing that they haven't seen on the Monday reveiw test.

Science -  we started into the Unit on Earth's Crust by reading and discussing (briefly) the main points in the opening chapter 7. I asked students to first complete the Ch1 review and crossword efore the work booklet for chapter 7 was begun. Somewhat productive - I know I didn't have to BUT I felt it would be better to help the students who could not find anything in their desks to get better organized- I ended up during the science work session working with four different students who were having difficulty with their organization.

DEAR bit noisy today

Art- we are trying to complete some Christmas decoration for the gym next week- the students are doing an excellent and colourful job on the Christmas 'baubles'. Productive session with enough time.

Clean up- pack up- go over the homework and ensure we had what was needed for the computer session.

Computers: a session at computers was used to either advance the socials reserach for the ancient civilizations project OR complete the Virtual Adventure work. Some had extreme difficulty focussing and I only received a few assignments. Have explained that I would like the virtual adventure by next Wednesday or it will be done over the holiday and handed in late in January!

Dismissal 3pm yeah. Have a good weekend. Enjoy the Santa Parade if you are going to watch it. I can't be sure once I get home that I will want to go back out- might see you there- might stay home and have an eggnog.
Mrs. J.
