Thursday April 8th

I'm making an effort to get on this right away tonight- enough remembering after dinner!!

Thank-you to those who are returning the bottle drive forms with pledges of support- it truly helps me sleep better at night knowing that we are not trying to run this alone. So far I have at least 7 or 8 drivers and hopefully enough students will shw to help collect and count.
Thank-you also for getting the forms in-the planning logistics and paperwork for longer trips like
a week at camp are onerous but well worthwhile. I do need to confirm our numbers early next week and have been hounding the students to get their waivers and medical forms in ASAP.

Homework
FORMS!!!
$1 popcorn sale tomorrow for Camp proceeds
Hazards under the kitchen sink (household products) for science - follow up tomorrow
think/research a mythical monster or beast of Greek mythology that would be of interest for an art project/storyline
Practice speeches for tomorrow's forum

General Day
Greek roots in our language- worksheet explored the use of the roots like 'meter' and 'chronos' and how the meanings translate into our vocabulary today
Music with Mrs. McPhee
math- geometry- measurement review of language and grade 4/5 skills in a pre-test which showed interesting results. Strudents based purely on retained knowledge (memory) scored form 0/15-15/15 on a pre-test quiz of 15 questions pertaining to geometry. The average score was 7/15 just under 50%.
Phys Ed with Mr. Parker
DEAR time which I shamlessly interrupted
Art- Greek mythological monsters and beasties- I though that watching the original Clash of the Titans with Lawrence Olivier, Maggie Smith and Ursula Andress might give them some inspiration - instead they had a good laugh at the 'special effects' and asked where Hercules was - let's just say some enjoyed watching more than others...
thanks, Gerwin for bringing the movie- we start at the scence where Pegasus first is introduced (the spirit of Andromeda has been taken away by the big turkey vulture-like bald eagle beastie) Perseus (a young Harry Hamlin) has seen her beauty and fallen madly in love...dundundun
more tomorrow maybe?
Some student worked for part of the afternoon on thier speeches which are to be showcased tomorrow afternoon - everyone is welcome to come and hear our students' speaking forum.

I received Hot Lunch forms which I will distribute tomorrow (they are to be returned Wed April 14th)
Dismissal
Have a good evening
Mrs. J.
