today was one of THOSE afternoons!!!

Hi everyone,
I am a bit later tonight due to the class clean up after fitness class and just taking a bit of a longer time genrally getting things done!!! Thanks to Ashleigh who stayed around and gave me a hand after school. :)

I'd like to be quick becuae my son and husband are at soccer practice and it is my turn to cook dinner!!!

Homework
Spelling Test Unit 19

nothing else new -novel Dargon Keeper -I haven't distributed the quiz for it yet- maybe Friday? I'm trying to encourage those who haven't finished to get as much read as possible but I think I might be losing that battle!!

I did ask for the students to complete a math review worksheet but I have requested no calculators and that is difficult to monitor if it's not done in class!! So... I'll be reminding them about it tomorrow

Reminders about Sledge hockey permission, Regal and/or Purdy's sales and floor hockey permission- busy, busy!!

General Day
short story "Thank you-so kind" and story plan analysis (story map) read, discuss and analyse
French- food and fridge contents- cuisine francais
Math complete the extension of integer skills and review equation language (basic algebra) and basic add, subtract, multiply and divide skills for review without calculator (calculator okay to check once completed the work)
DEAR time- having some issues with students who are not responding to the afternoon bell which I had to address
Choice for students of socials or personal planning. Students chose Personal Planning but I had to abandon it due to the number of interruptions and disrespect (my intetention was to discuss the ways in which students were meeting their needs but a small group were too busy meeting their needs by disrupting class with call outs and silly behaviour) so I opted for a more strucured social studies textbook lesson on Ancient India. It was boring enough to settle them down!! :)
Art to finish the day wasn't as successful as it could have been if I had remembered to tell students what to do with the project materials before they got them!!! My mistake- like I said one of THOSE afternoons. We''ll follow it up and get it right tomorrow if time- good job by Huntington and Chris who each managed to complete a small example of the weaving/strip pictures.
Dismisssal
Have a good night. Gotta run.
Mrs. J.
