Quick one tonight folks - I need to get to the polls and it would be nice to get home before the sun disappears!!
We looked at Pythagorus Theorum and Pythagorean triples- the concept is really high school math but it fits in so well with our look at the achievements of the Greek civilization that I couldn't pass up the chance to share the concept and practice some in class!! The students did a great job for the most part :)
Homework:
I am frustrated by the numbers of students who are not completeing work and assignments and don't seem to either use the time available wisely or care too much if it is not completed at all!!! I'm not sure what can be done except to move on and leave them in the dust.
The socials brochures are due Thursday and are beginning to come together- I have one in already. I provided students with an assessment rubric today that explained the aspects we agreed as a class should be assessed. Of the 50 marks, 10 are for simply handing it in complete and on time!!!
We completed a chart of the concepts we still know and in some cases use today that originated in ancient Greece and it quite fascinating how much we have relied on the discoveries of the ancients- makes me wonder, besides technology, what real insights our civilization has had to offer the world in general!!
