Monday April 27th

Welcome back everyone. Lovely, sunny Monday!

We held a very successful and serious class meeting today and I was very proud of the students for expressing themselves so well and not bottling up all the emotions of the past week. I think our message got through to the small group in the class that are being bullies. We played a Tribes game for DPA and everyone seemed to enjoy it. It was nice to see evryone being included and participating again.

It has taken a bit of time but in the end I am hoping the classroom 'community' and peer relationships can become more friendly so eveyone can enjoy the last couple of months of elementary school. Only a couple of months!! We are trying the new seating plan drawn up by the students although I must confess to making a couple of minor changes tonight!!!! shhh!

We looked at reflections (mirror image) as transformations in math today. It is interesting how accurate you have to be with the small details to plot points correctly- it is difficult for those in a hurry!!! :)
For French we did a quick review of the conjugation of the verb Etre and the students all filled in a quiz study sheet- quiz this Thursday on the French verb: to be.
Jackie Dickinson conducted the third session for the Drug and Alcohol program and discussed the myths about marijuana being 'organic' and therefore okay or better for you than cigarettes. Some very interesting discussion came from the session.
Spelling Unit 25 due Thursday. The work on Vocabualry continues- some students are ready for the letter 'I' list.

Thank-you for making appointments for Student-Led conferences on Thursday- I am looking forward to seeing you. Everyone has been given their preferred time slot.

A list will be given tomorrow to students who have outstanding assignments. There are several assignments on the go currently - hopefully you will be shown our progress with them on Thursday.
A newsletter went home tonight to remind you about the Drug and Alcohol program presentation which will be presented by Jackie Dickinson at 7pm. Hope you can make it.
Have a great evening.
